RIESLING CLARELLA

Riesling. White wine

Camp del Bosc, 925 m

The first stone of Mas Clarella was placed around the 10th century. Today, one of the noble varieties produced in the bodega of Mas Clarella is the riesling. Its image reproduces the doorknocker of the front door that faces south. This piece of iron, which has been used to request entry into the building for more than three centuries, today illustrates one of the wines that speak to us of the nobility of Mas Clarella.

VINIFICATION:

This mono-variety is one of the most important wines of the bodega, since it perfectly represents the earthiness of Clarella. It is made with grapes from our Camp del Bosc vineyard that possesses ideal conditions for growing this very special variety, with a very steep gradient and totally exposed to the predominant cold winds of the zone. It is always the first variety to harvest and the optimum moment is chosen to ensure the purity of aromas of this magnificent variety. In the same way, it is cultivated with the main goal of obtaining the best variety aromas possible, so all the fallen produce is eliminated from the harvest. The harvest is gathered in boxes of approximately 12-15 kg and then placed in cooling chambers until the next day, then taken to a pre-fermentative cryomaceration, with the aim of increasing, if possible, these varietal aromas. Once in the bodega, the small grape is subjected to an exhaustive selection process on the table and then lightly pressed, taken to small stainless steel tanks for natural clarification at low temperature, and the later stirring in the final tanks, where under strict control measures the alcohol fermentation takes place. Once the fermentation is completed, the wine is subjected to its maturation in small stainless steel tanks where it completes its refining with the lees and gentle stirring. Once tasted by the experts, it is bottled after a light clarification and very light filtration. Very limited production. Approximately 500 bottles.
